Use of anonymous sources

At nbamaniacs, we believe in transparent and honest journalism. The information we publish must be based on verified facts and reliable sources. That’s why the use of anonymous sources is a tool we use only in exceptional cases, when there is no other viable way to obtain or confirm relevant information for our readers.

An exception, not the rule

We don’t build content around mystery. Anonymous sources are not part of our daily routine. We use them only when the source’s identity must be protected for justified reasons —such as professional or contractual risk— and when the information provided holds real journalistic value.

Verification and context

Just because a source requests anonymity doesn’t relieve our newsroom of responsibility. Any information from an unnamed source is cross-checked with independent channels before being published. Whenever possible, we also provide context about who the source is (for example, “someone close to the player’s circle” or “a member of the coaching staff”) so readers can assess credibility.

Transparency with the reader

We always make it clear when a source is anonymous. We never present their input as official information or disguise it as a verified fact without explanation. Readers deserve to know when information comes from a named source and when it doesn’t.

Never for baseless rumors

We do not use anonymous sources to fuel baseless rumors, build artificial narratives, or chase easy clicks. If the only source for a story is anonymous and we cannot verify or justify its relevance, we choose not to publish.

Editorial responsibility

The use of anonymous sources is overseen by the nbamaniacs editorial team. Each case is evaluated internally and only approved when strict criteria of necessity, informational value, and verifiability are met. Reader trust comes before any scoop.
