Terms and conditions of use

Notice: this page outlines the terms of use of nbamaniacs. If you are looking for the privacy policy, click here.

User comments

nbamaniacs has a strong community of users who comment on every news article and post published on the site. We value debate, which is why we use the Disqus service. However, we want the environment to always be respectful — and when that’s not the case, we need to set some rules.

If someone breaks these rules, their comment may be deleted or, worse, the user may be banned. What are possible reasons for deleting a message or banning a user?

  • Obscenities.
  • Insults or attacks directed at other users or writers.
  • Incitement to racism or hatred of any kind.
  • Disrespectful remarks based on religion, race, ethnicity, sexuality, nationality, or gender.

Also:

  • Repeating messages.
  • Using nbamaniacs to post links to unrelated websites.
  • Using nbamaniacs to promote your own blog, website, or published content.
  • Accusing nbamaniacs of clickbait.
  • Sharing full or partial email addresses.
  • Sharing copyrighted content or content from external subscription services.
  • Creating multiple Disqus accounts.
  • Derailing the topic of a thread (threads are for discussing the specific news item, not other topics).
  • Using the comments as a messaging system for off-topic conversations.
  • Behaving like a troll.

Some comments are automatically placed in the moderation queue and don’t appear publicly. This happens with comments that:

  • Contain any type of link.
  • Contain insults or offensive language.
  • Contain a large amount of uppercase text.
  • Are duplicate comments.

The nbamaniacs editorial team manages the moderation queue several times per week, so some of the above comments may not appear for hours or even days until reviewed.

In short: don’t insult, don’t spam, and don’t troll. Have fun, but don’t disrespect others even if you disagree. If you have any questions about comment usage or want to report a problem, contact us here.

Published content

Our publications use a Creative Commons license that allows their use for non-commercial purposes, requiring only author attribution. This means that all our content — except some photos and videos — can be freely used. Anyone may copy, reproduce, distribute, and modify it, provided they follow these conditions:

  • It must be for non-commercial purposes. Commercial use includes publication on any page displaying ads or supporting other business activities.
  • Proper attribution to the original author must be maintained via a direct (non-nofollow) link to the original content page. For print publications, a mention of nbamaniacs and the general URL is sufficient.

The photographs published on nbamaniacs are used with permission from Getty Images under the agreement between Getty Images and nbamaniacs. That agreement does not allow site visitors to download, reproduce, or republish those images elsewhere. A note: some photos and videos we use are not owned by us and therefore do not fall under the Creative Commons license.
